Like Unto An Amoeba

It was only a few days ago I began the process of making a real interactive avatar as seen in Star TrekMass Effect, and Harry Potter for live events .

Keeping with the evolution model I'm launching a very primitive "single celled" version today.

Build 0.1.2a contains the kind of interactions you can expect from the ECH but lacks any custom animations or any of the true content the final will have but it is the functioning framework that all of that will be based on.

It introduces the pipeline from the Arcweave narrative design system to the Dialogue System for Unity Database.  Traditionally Articty:Draft is used for that kind of work but my team and I like Arcweave's online collaboration abilities enough to want want to path find how to make the two systems work.

Speaking of my team, now that we have the framework in place we can begin making actual content for the ECH to say and do.  It's my hope that this will grow over time into impressively complex interactions that are funny, entertaining, and actually useful for the event they are installed in.

All it should take now is a little elbow grease and some imagination and we have that to spare, so expect more on that in future.

The writing process is going to reveal the need for features not yet planned.  An example is in the demo file, where the user's DNA is scanned and corrected requiring a new visual effect.

But I expect the ECH to remember choices, know what time and day is, and be able to change the shell and voice on request. (that last feature important for Shuko Sun as well)

The only thing left on the must do list this week is syncing the subtitles and adding Kinect functionality.  There are no inputs on the industrial display we'll be using so this is important for user comfort.  Since that is specific hardware it may not make it into the itch version.

If you have any comments or suggestions feel free to share them.

Here is a video of the current interactions.

You can also play it for yourself in the link below.  Hopefully in the future I'll use HTML5 but had some trouble with it this time.

I wonder if Robert Picardo would like it, or maybe even contribute. Maybe I'm being silly and he already has, given the likeness. Really interesting project!

This is entirely fan made and I doubt he'll ever see it.
