Mickey has found his voice! (and other updates)

After a short hiatus due to our voice actor falling under the weather, we're thrilled to announce that Mickey's voice is now part of the game!

Finally hearing Mickey speak gave me such a thrill! I happened to record the very first sound check. I wish you could also hear me; I was clapping and shouting for joy.

We appreciate your understanding as we waited for James to recover, and we're happy to have him back on board! During development, we used a text-to-speech system to match timing, and it sounded... well, hear for yourself.

Now you know the reason we published with no voice at all on New Year's, haha. Many people think he has to be silent to pass into the public domain, but this is not the case.

A mouse having a high voice does not meet the threshold of transformative, neither would wearing gloves or having pants in a primary color. The entire work could have been in color, but I like working in grayscale and this was a good excuse to do so.

Steamboat Willie Live! is based on the Emergency Convention Hologram engine, also available here on Itch. Here they are together to show that this is actually a color game, but all the colors happen to be grey.

Now that I think about it, ECH is pretty black and white too... I really like grey, okay!

I truly appreciate those who have bought the game. Normally, I post things for free, but you can't make a point about ownership without money changing hands. (I would have set it for $0.99, but the system won't go any lower.) That being said, those who have offered more than the base price, I see you and I love you.

The very next thing I plan to do is create a trailer for the game. I've had an idea for it for some time, so it shouldn't take long. That will be the next dev log when it's ready. Long-term, I think I may upgrade this once a year, adding a new character as they become public. There's a lot out there already, so if you want to talk to someone famous, let me know!
